COOKIE POLICY

DEFINITION:

Cookies are small text strings that sites visited by the user send to the user’s terminal (usually a browser), where they are stored and then retransmitted to the same sites the next time the same user visits. Cookies are distinguished according to the entity that installs them on the user’s terminal:

  • Proprietary cookies (so-called ‘first-party’): installed by the same operator of the site that the user is visiting, in order to allow the user to navigate more efficiently and/or to monitor the actions performed by the same;
  • Third-party cookies: in the course of browsing the site, the user may also receive on his/her terminal equipment cookies that are sent by sites or web servers other than the one he/she is currently visiting, for the same purposes as those mentioned above.

Cookies are used for different purposes and differ from each other precisely on the basis of the purposes pursued by those who use them. They can be distinguished into:

  • “Technical cookies”: used for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communication network or to the extent strictly necessary for the provision of a service explicitly requested by the user: they allow the site that has installed them to remember, for example, the preferences expressed by the user while browsing or to make a purchase or to authenticate. Users’ prior consent is not required for the installation of such cookies, while the obligation to provide information remains in place;
  • “Statistical cookies”: used to monitor the performance of the site, for example to find out the number of pages visited or the number of users who have viewed a particular section. The analysis of these cookies generates anonymous and aggregate statistical data without any reference to the identity of the site visitors. They are also useful for evaluating possible changes and improvements to the site itself;
  • “Profiling cookies”: aimed at creating profiles on the user, they allow the site that installed them to monitor the user’s browsing also for the purpose of sending advertising or offering services in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web. Due to the particular invasiveness of such devices, European and Italian regulations require that the user be adequately informed about their use and express his/her valid consent to their use;
  • “Social Network Cookies”: these allow you to share the contents of the site you are visiting with other users or to express your opinion about it. These are the cookies typically used to activate the ‘Like’ or ‘Follow’ functions of Social Networks such as Facebook and Twitter, to name but a few. These functions allow Social Networks to identify their users and collect information even while they are surfing other sites. We recommend that you consult the privacy policy of each of the Social Networks used to find out the purposes and methods of the processing of personal data carried out by them.

Please read the information below to better understand what cookies we use and how you can manage your preferences regarding their use.

TYPES OF COOKIES USED BY OUR SITE:

The cookies used by the website belong to the category of ‘technical cookies’, i.e. those cookies used for the sole purpose of ‘carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communication network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service’ (art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Privacy Code).

They are normally installed directly by the website owner or operator and are divided into

browsing or session cookies, which are necessary for normal browsing and use of the website (such as to make a purchase or to authenticate and access restricted areas)
functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the website browsing experience.

Users’ prior consent is not required for this type of cookie.

The site also uses ‘third-party cookies’ by means of Google Analytics, a web analysis service aimed at identifying which pages are the most viewed by visitors to the site, how long they stayed on the site and their geographical area of origin. The information collected through third-party cookies is processed by the Data Controller for statistical purposes and in strictly anonymous form; in particular, users’ IP addresses are pseudonymised.

LINKS TO SOCIAL NETWORK SERVICES:

Through this site, certain services provided by third parties are made available to users, with particular reference to the connection, via social plugins, to social network services (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram). These plug-ins do not set a cookie, but if it is already present on the visitor’s computer they are able to read it and use it according to their settings. The collection and use of information by such third parties is governed by their respective privacy policies, to which please refer.
